Yes. PowerBuilder is actively developed by Appeon with regular releases, including long-term support releases. Appeon PowerBuilder is the only fully supported version of PowerBuilder available, and it is where bug fixes and new features come from.
In most cases, no. A full rewrite is costly and risky. If you have systems written in PowerBuilder you do not need to redevelop them. We can migrate you to a later version and then enhance the application to bring it up to date, which saves both time and money.
Yes. We support all Appeon releases from PB2017 through PB2025, and legacy versions from PB6 through PB12.6, including EAServer 5 and 6. Legacy versions cannot receive new bug fixes from Appeon, but we provide workarounds, troubleshooting and long-term stability.
No. We can support your existing version. If you want access to new features, security updates and long-term product support, we can help you migrate to the latest Appeon release.
Yes. We offer a free analysis of your application to determine whether a migration is simple, complex or not required at all. This includes reviewing your code base, dependencies and platform requirements.
We provide expert troubleshooting and workarounds even for unsupported versions. While we cannot issue new patches for legacy PowerBuilder, we can resolve issues, stabilize the system and keep your application running.
Yes. In urgent cases we can provide rapid assistance. For certain issues, such as the Teachers Assurance project, we have successfully delivered fixes on a no-win-no-fee basis.
Yes. We have extensive experience with Oracle, SQL Server, SQL Anywhere and mixed estates. We also assist with platform upgrades such as Windows Server, Microsoft Office integration and database migrations.
Yes. We offer fully customized support ranging from 1st line to 3rd line assistance. Many customers rely on us for ongoing stability, risk reduction and operational continuity.
Absolutely. Many organizations come to us after losing internal PowerBuilder expertise, often through retirement. We provide continuity, knowledge transfer and long-term support to keep your systems running smoothly.
Yes. We support EAServer 5 and 6 environments and have successfully migrated large EAServer estates to modern platforms.
Yes. We deliver user interface modernization, multi-lingual support, API enablement and cloud deployment through Appeon PowerServer, while keeping the business logic that already works.
No. Powersoft is a UK company, based in West Sussex, England, and we have no US office. We work with US clients remotely, which is how PowerBuilder work is done in practice: source control, screen shares, test environments and controlled cutovers. Our working day covers the US East Coast morning, and cover outside those hours is arranged as part of your support agreement.
PowerBuilder skills are scarce and expensive in the US market. We do not sell contractors by the day; we sell services, and development work is normally quoted as a fixed price against an agreed scope. Those quotations compare well against the cost of employing PowerBuilder developers in the United States, and you get a whole team behind the work rather than depending on one individual.
PowerServer is Appeon's technology for turning an existing PowerBuilder application into an installable cloud application running on .NET Core, without rewriting it. Appeon states that it automatically converts almost every existing PowerBuilder feature, including the PFC framework. Whether you need it depends on what you are trying to achieve: remote access, cloud hosting, or removing direct database access from end users are the usual reasons. Our free analysis will tell you whether your application is a good candidate.
We sell services rather than contractors. Development and migration work is normally quoted as a fixed price against an agreed scope, with phases, milestones, acceptance criteria and contingency defined up front, so the budget is agreed before work begins. Ongoing support is covered by a support agreement.
Yes. We support customers across the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Europe, New Zealand, South Africa and the Middle East.
With a conversation and a free analysis of your application. From there we produce a full project plan and a fixed-cost proposal that defines phases, milestones, acceptance criteria and contingency measures, so you know the budget before work begins.
Tell us the PowerBuilder version you are on, the database behind it and what is worrying you. We will come back with an honest assessment of your options — including whether you need to do anything at all. Initial application analysis is free of charge.
