Working with a UK consultancy from the United States

We will be straight with you: Powersoft is a British company. We have been based in West Sussex since 1986 and we have no US office. What we do have is one of the deepest concentrations of PowerBuilder experience anywhere in the world, and a long record of delivering for clients outside the UK — in the United States, Canada, New Zealand, Denmark and across Europe.

In practice, distance matters far less than it used to. PowerBuilder work is remote work: source control, screen shares, test environments and controlled cutovers. Our clients in North America deal with the same named engineers year after year.

Our working day covers the US East Coast morning, which is when most support calls and planning sessions happen. Cover outside those hours is arranged as part of your support agreement rather than assumed.

A note on cost

PowerBuilder skills are scarce and expensive in the US market, and a single in-house PowerBuilder developer is an expensive single point of failure — particularly when they retire or move on.

We sell services, not contractors. Development is quoted as a fixed price against an agreed scope, and those quotations compare well against the cost of employing PowerBuilder developers in the United States — with a whole team behind the work rather than one person.
